While creating this blog,I wanted the address to be "I am" but somehow it won't work.. there were few other names i've thought of a few names but the same prob occurs. Finally this work !!
I guess some of you might be wondering why I want to set up this blog. I just want to share with my friends ard me what i've learn and also encourage my other non church-going friends to attend church. =D Thanks to those tht have inspired me, esp the pastor for imparting God's knowledge to me.
Yupp.. So I'll start with my first topic of the day: I am
-Most Assuredly, I say to you, before Abraham was, I AM. [John 8:58] (NKJ)
-13 Then Moses said to God," Indeed, when I come to the childred of Israel and say to them,'The God of your father has sent me to you,' and they say to me, 'What is his name?' what shall I say to them?"
14 And God said to Moses,"I AM WHO I AM." And he thus said, "Thus you shall say to the children of Israel ,' I Am has sent me to you.'" [Exodus 3:13-14]
Confused??Well when I first read this verse I was very puzzled too. Well few yrs back when I was in Secondary school,we had a musical "The Great I Am". When I was thinking abt what to blog, this topic suddenly struck me. So I managed to find one part in the book i read,"100 Potraits of Christ" by Henry Gariepy.Heres what it says...
It is a title that signifies the eternity of God. The Hebrew word for I AM is in an "imperfect" tense, meaning I was, I am, and I shall always be.It also signifies that God is complete in Himself. He is the source of all being and all other attributes are contained in this title that represents the eternal and mighty nature of God.
Tht chapter goes on to say tht there were intense reaction by ppl when Jesus claims this title.(read John 8:53-58 and Mark 14:61-64)Jesus is already trying to disclose who He is. The last paragraph questions... we have seen the reaction of His enemies.. what is ours? Do we really accept and know God? Have we allowed Him to reign as Sovereign over our lives? With Thomas, Have we said to him from the depths of our being, "My Lord and My God" ?
Lord Jesus, I acknowledge Your divinity with the Gift of my total being.
